Lagos State Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) yesterday said it would hold ward, local government and state congresses early next month.
The party broke the news at the inauguration of a nine-man congress committee headed by Hon. Alabi Macfoy.
The ward, local government and state congresses are billed for December 2, 6 and 11.
Inaugurating the committee at the party secretariat, Ogba, Ikeja, the chairman, Otunba Dele Ajomale, advised the members to conduct the proposed elections of party leaders according to their terms of reference.
Other members of the committee are: Dr Ibrahim Adeyemi, secretary, David Adeyemi, Mrs Modupe Olaiya, Alhaji Waheed Owokodu and Kareem Daramola.
Ajomale said: “You are expected to conduct free, fair and credible internal elections that will lead to the emergence of leadership structures at the ward, council and state levels. The party counts on you”.
No fewer than 500 aspirants for the House of Assembly, Representatives and Senate submitted their letters of expression to Ajomale yesterday.
This has jerked up the list to 1,500.
Among the aspirants are Hon. Bosun Jeje and Dayo Alebiosun, who are eyeing the House of Representatives in Kosofe Constituency, Hon. Bayo Odulana, a House of Representatives member seeking re-nomination in Ikeja Constituency, Lanre Odubote, who is eyeing the House of Representatives in Epe Constituency and Otunba Oyeniyi Raheem, who wants to represent Agege Constituency, also in the House of Representatives.
The party is silent on the modalities for the primaries, although the Secretary, Primate Charles Odugbesi and Publicity Secretary, Mr Joe Igbokwe, had hinted that the aspirants would undergo a rigorous screening.
