The tussle between the federal government and the students and alumni over the renaming of University of Lagos (UNILAG) to Moshood Abiola University, Lagos (MAUL) took another shape when the UNILAG Alumni sued the Federal Government over the issue.

The Latest now is that the Federal High Court has restrained the Federal Government from renaming the University. The court also restrained the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from deliberating on the proposed bill of renaming the institution.

This implies that UNILAG will remain UNILAG until the court's decision. Justice Adah however, asked the litigants to harmonize the suits and adjourned further hearing in the case till July 4, 2012.
