A suicide bomber, at approximately 11:07 this morning drove a bomb laden vehicle into the head offices of This Day Newspapers in Jabi, Abuja.

The suicide bomber drove through the front gate of the building and crashed his vehicle, killing a yet unknown number of people, and destroying most of the building.

Chairman of This Day's editorial board, Olusegun Adeniyi has however said that 2 people have been confirmed dead while 5 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Daily Trust reporters who went to the bomb site immediately after the explosion witnessed the pandemonium that ensued in the immediate after math of the blast.

Reporters observed the burning vehicle with the body of the suicide bomber smoldering in the fire.

Severed parts of casualties could be seen in pieces around the premises, as efforts were made by rescue workers to evacuate the first group of casualties.

Thirty minutes after the bombing, the police and fighters arrived to control a gathering mob some of which took advantage of the chaos to loot items within the burning and damaged building.

The front facade of the building was destroyed by the blast, which also took down most of the roofing.

The blast could be heard within the whole area, and the sound of the blast reverberated within Jabi and Utako areas, destroying windows of buildings in the vicinity.

Apart from the suicide bomber, reporters at the time of filing this report confirmed, one dead, two conveyed by rescue workers many seriously injured, and several covered in dust.

Daily Trust can also confirm anattack at SOJ plaza along Kontagora road, near Jos road, Kaduna, where the offices of This Day and several other news papers offices are situated.

Reports from Kaduna also hinted that the bomb was planted by an unknown motorcycle rider.

There are a yet unknown number casualties in both incidents Abuja and Kaduna.
