The House of Representatives has noted that the education section, which is one of Nigeria’s key sectors, is on the verge of collapse due to incessant industrial action by different categories of university staff.

In a bid to avert another strike in the country’s universities, the House of Representatives has directed its Committee on Education to meet with the Minister of Education and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU.

In a motion by Mr. Bashir Babanle, on the urgent need to for the House to intervene in the proposed strike by the union, the lawmakers noted that the strike would affect the socio-economic and political well-being of the country.
